John and I participated in our first sprint triathlon a few weeks ago, on August 10th in Great Falls Montana. We had a great time. We started thinking about doing triathlons after moving to Montana and learning about the triathletes who practice in our pool here on the ranch. We started looking into them and thought it would be fun to try a sprint- the shortest distance of the triathlon world. We did the Harvest Thunder Triathlon in Great Falls, which had a 500 m swim, then a 12.4 mile bike ride, followed by a 3 mile run. I didn't think my legs were going to keep going by the time I got to the run. John did really well and finished in 1 hr. and 15 min. which was 16th overall (out of 110 people). He finished 14th out of all the men. I finished in 1 hr. 26 min. which wasn't very good overall, but was 12th out of the women. Overall we had a great time and can't wait to start training for another one next spring or summer. Here are some pictures of us in all of our spandex so you can make fun of us.
Our friends Jeremy, Lynnette, and Katie were all there to cheer us on. Thanks for coming guys!
